The tobacco rules, plus a few more
This page is part of our Oklahoma dispensary guide. The card makes using it legal, so the limits are about where you light up. Smoking or vaping follows the state's tobacco law, which bans it in indoor public places, every part of a zoo, indoor workplaces, public transit, nursing homes and child care centers. Edibles, tinctures and topicals don't count as smoking.
Outdoors, cities and property owners write the rules. State buildings are smoke-free, cities and counties can say the same for their buildings and parks, and nobody can light up within 25 feet of those doors or a school's. The ticket is up to $100. Tulsa bans smoking it in public outright.
Can I smoke here?
Tap a spot. Green means go, gold means it depends on someone else's rules, red means the law says no.
YesYour house or backyard
Yes. Your home isn't a public place under the smoking law, and the card makes using it legal.
DependsFront porch
Usually fine on your own property. No state law bans outdoor use at home, but a city ordinance or your lease can.
DependsApartment or rental
Depends on the lease. A landlord can ban smoking and vaping, but can't refuse to rent to you for being a patient or stop your edibles.
DependsHotel room
Ask first. Hotels can ban smoking and vaping on the property and within 10 feet of the door. Edibles are fine.
DependsSidewalk or street
Depends on the city. Tulsa bans smoking it in public, and property owners can ban it within 10 feet of their door.
NoCity parks
Treat them as a no. Cities and counties can make their parks smoke-free for marijuana and tobacco alike.
NoState park or campground
No. Smoking and vaping are banned on all state park property, trails and campgrounds, and a cabin adds a $400 cleaning charge.

No. The state licenses no lounges, and licensed businesses can't allow smoking or drinking on site.

No, unless your employer allows it, and it doesn't have to.
NoSchool or college
No. Smoking or vaping it is banned in schools and within 25 feet of their doors.
NoThe zoo
No. The state ban covers every part of a zoo the public can enter, indoors and out.
