Getting the 30-day license
Every one of the 1,080 licensed stores we list sells only to card holders, and this page of our Oklahoma dispensary guide covers how visitors become one. You need a medical card issued by your home state's government. A card or note from a doctor elsewhere doesn't count.
- Who qualifies. Missouri and Arkansas patients do. Texas patients don't, because Texas's government doesn't issue them.
- Cost. $104.30, nonrefundable, with no Medicaid or veteran discount.
- What to upload. Both sides of your home card, a driver's license, an ID or a US passport, and a color photo. No Oklahoma doctor visit.
- How long. 30 days, never past your home card's expiration date. Apply for the next one up to a week early.
- How fast. Up to 14 business days, so apply before the trip. The approval email works at the counter, and the caps are in our Oklahoma purchase limits tool.

Where your bag can go after the dispensary. Inside the borders it's fine with your license, and every crossing is a federal line.
FineAnywhere in Oklahoma
Fine with your license, up to 3 ounces on you. Keep it sealed and out of the passenger area while you drive.
Don'tInto Texas
Don't. Two ounces or less is a Class B misdemeanor there, and your card gives no protection.
Don'tInto Kansas
Don't. Kansas has no legal market, and possession is a misdemeanor, a felony with two priors.
Don'tInto Arkansas
Don't. Arkansas sells its own visiting patient card, $50 for 90 days, but carrying it across the line is a federal crime.
Don'tInto Missouri
Don't. Missouri sells to any adult 21+, but crossing the line with it is a federal crime either way.
Don'tColorado or New Mexico
Don't. Both are legal for adults, and the line still counts. Buy there, use it there.
Don'tBringing some back
Don't. The law here only allows buying from Oklahoma-licensed businesses, card or not.
Don'tFlying out of OKC or Tulsa
Don't. TSA lists medical marijuana as "Yes (Special Instructions)" with none given, refers illegal drugs to police, and your destination's law applies.
Don'tMailing it home
Don't. Only DEA-registered senders and receivers can mail controlled substances.
