What the counter checks
Stores can sell only to people holding an OMMA patient or caregiver license, and this page of our Oklahoma dispensary guide covers what to bring. Every time, the clerk confirms you in OMMA Verify and checks the name, number, expiration date and photo against your face.
Licenses issued or replaced since November 1, 2025 carry a 12-character number and a barcode, replacing the old 24-character number. The plastic shows your name, photo, birth date, city, county, type and expiration date.
Will this get you served?
Tap what's in your wallet. The store has to look you up in OMMA's system before every sale.
YesOMMA license plus photo ID
Yes, as long as it hasn't expired. The clerk matches the photo to your face.
YesApproval email plus ID
Yes. Since January 6, 2026, the approval email or MedPortal approval counts as temporary licensure, next to a government photo ID.
YesA photo of it
Yes, with a government photo ID next to it. The store looks you up before the sale.
YesOut-of-town ID plus a 30-day pass
Yes. Your ID from home or a US passport pairs with the temporary one.
NoHome med card alone
No. Get the 30-day temporary license first, it's built on that card.
NoJust a photo ID
No. There are no adult-use sales here, so age alone doesn't get you served.
NoExpired
Expect a no. We haven't found a grace period in the law or the rules, so renew before it lapses.
Yes18 to 20, approved
Yes. Adult patients start at 18.
DependsUnder 18, approved
Only with the parent or guardian named on it, who does the buying.
DependsJust looking around
The store decides. We haven't found a rule that keeps adults out, but many stores check at the door.
