How much weed can you buy in Missouri?

Straight answer

3 ounces of flower per transaction, or the match in other forms. One ounce counts the same as 8 grams of concentrate or 800 mg of THC in edibles, so the cap equals 24 grams of concentrate or 2,400 mg of edibles, and a mixed bag shares it. Visitors get the same, and 3 ounces is also what you can carry.

One cap, three ways to fill it

Part of our Missouri dispensary guide, this page covers how much you can walk out with. The cap is written per transaction, and one ounce of flower counts the same as 8 grams of concentrate or 800 mg of THC in edibles and drinks.

ResidentVisitor
Flower3 oz3 oz
Or concentrate24 g24 g
Or edibles2,400 mg2,400 mg

For edibles, what counts is the total THC printed on the label, not the package weight or the number in the design. A quarter ounce of flower, a 1 gram vape cart and a 100 mg gummy pack together use about a sixth of the cap.

Build a bag

Pick resident or visitor, the cap is the same, then tap items into the bag. Flower, concentrate and edibles all draw on one 3 ounce cap, so the meter shows how much of it each piece uses.

Your bag is empty.

Two stores, tracking and going over

The limit is per transaction, not per day, but stores have to report anyone making several buys in a day that would likely push them past the 3 ounce possession cap. Adult-use buyers have no state card, so there's no running total across stores. What's on you is what counts.

Going over is a civil fine, not jail, at first. More than 3 ounces up to 6 is a fine up to $250 the first time and $500 the second, and a third time is a misdemeanor up to $1,000. Fines can be worked off with community service. Under 21, holding 3 ounces or less is up to $100, or a drug education class instead. Gifting up to 3 ounces to another adult is legal when nothing is paid.

Home grow and patients

  • Home grow. It takes a state grow card, then 6 flowering plants, 6 nonflowering plants and 6 clones, locked and out of public view. A home can hold 12 flowering plants and two grow-card holders.
  • Plants from the store. Only grow-card holders can buy them, up to 6 a day.
  • Patients. 6 ounces every 30 days, tracked across every store, with up to a 60-day supply on hand. A clinician can certify more by giving the reasons and the amount.
  • No stacking. A patient can't buy once as a patient and again as an adult-use shopper.

Every other state's cap, drawn in eighths, is in our dispensary purchase limits by state guide.
