What happens at the door
Every licensed store checks ID before it sells, and this page of our New York dispensary guide covers what to bring. Staff can't sell to anyone under 21, or who looks under 21, or anyone who's visibly drunk or high.
A store can scan your ID as a condition of the sale. If the scan says it's fake, or the data doesn't match the card, the sale stops there. Staff can also refuse a sale they think could put your health or safety at risk.
Will my ID work?
